The Ecopia EP422 featuring T-speed rated sizes is one of Bridgestone’s ecologically oriented Standard Touring All-Season tires developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and small crossover vehicles looking to combine year-round traction, handling and comfort with reduced environmental impact. Ecopia EP422 tires are designed to enhance vehicle fuel economy by reducing tire rolling resistance along with the vehicle’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while delivering year-round, all-season traction, even in light snow.

The Ecopia EP422 uses an all-season tread compound featuring Bridgestone’s unique NanoPro-Tech (Nanostructure-Oriented Properties Control Technology) to reduce rolling resistance and energy loss while maintaining dry, wet and wintertime traction.

This compound is molded into a symmetric tread design that combines notched shoulders and intermediate ribs with independent center blocks for dry road tracking and traction. Four circumferential grooves are designed to help water flow from under the footprint to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while notches and sipes increase the edges that bite into light snow. The tire sidewalls feature Bridgestone’s Fuel Saver compound to further increase efficiency.

The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of a polyester casing to blend ride comfort and durability.

*Specific sizes featuring Ecopia technology are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire’s SPEC tab.

  1. Tires wore too quickly. Performed well for first 15,000 miles, but shoulders are worn to the point where they are no longer safe for use (only approx. 20K miles on them). They now hydroplane easily and I must replace them before first snow. I have rotated these tires every oil change and maintained proper air pressure. I think these tires are simply too soft for the weight of our Sienna. The van is hardly a sports car, but from day 1 I thought they felt squishy. I was constantly checking the tire pressure as they would look low in pressure just sitting in the garage.Might be good tires for a smaller vehicle – I will not purchase another set.

  2. I wanted to like this tire, as it seemed like a nice balance of attributes. Unfortunately, this tire is the least capable of any I have used on my vehicle. A big disappointment. This tire rode moderately well for the first 5,000 miles. Afterwards the ride quality characteristics of noise and comfort began to deteriorate. Additionally the handling characteristics faded quickly. Additional problems included poor wear charateristics in spite of regular rotations, balance checks and alignment checks. The tire is advertised as as a potential fuel saver. I did not experience any increase in fuel economy. These essentially got the same fuel economy as the BF Goodrich Long Trail TA’s that were previously on the vehicle. Finally, the treadwear life is extremely disappointing. I am not an aggressive driver nor am I on unusually winding roads. I have just over 29,000 miles on this set and the tires are worn to the bars and not wearing evenly. As stated, alignment, balance and rotation are all up to date.

  3. Happy at first, as mileage slightly increased. Now I have to replace two tires for being out of round and driving terribly. This is the absolute worst tire I have ever purchased, and will not likely buy any tire of this brand in the future. Tires are so bad I even checked to see if a recall had been issued on them, and was surprised one had not been filed. Very disappointed with these tires.
