The Potenza S-04 Pole Position is Bridgestone’s Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of ultra high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans who want to feel the rush of driving their vehicle. Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires are designed to perform in warm, wet and dry conditions. However like all summer tires, they are not intended to be driven in near freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Potenza S-04 Pole Position features an asymmetric tread design with a large outboard shoulder, interlocking tread blocks and a central circumferential rib to enhance dry road steering response, high speed stability and cornering precision. High angle tread blocks in the intermediate ribs promote longitudinal stiffness to enhance straight-line braking forces while slanted lateral grooves pump water into wide circumferential grooves to help resist hydroplaning. Another continuous circumferential rib adjacent to the inside shoulder blocks enhances wear quality to help reduce noise throughout the life of the tire, especially on cars with alignment settings that specify negative camber.

The tire’s internal structure features a lightweight belt package consisting of twin steel belts supported by a spirally wrapped aramid/nylon cord reinforcement that enhances ride quality and high speed durability. Active rubber inserts in the sidewalls near the bead areas tune vertical sidewall stiffness to blend cornering grip with ride comfort.

  1. Pleasantly surprise on the miles. I only achieved 17,833 miles on my Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.

  2. I just ordered my 2nd set. As many have said, they don’t last long. Which is to be expected from such a sticky tire. Regardless, I will keep ordering these as the price is very reasonable for the performance they provide. I am very impressed by their wet traction. They are quiet on the road. They also stick very very well. That being said, the sidewall is a bit soft and need a bit extra air when driving hard.

  3. I drove cross country with these tires from California to North Carolina. The tires are amazing when it comes to handling. Use these tires as my daily in my Subaru and after 15,000 miles on the tires I still have about 6/32 tread left on the tires. I wasn’t expecting it to last that long to be honestly. Great tire would definitely recommend and buy these tires again.

  4. If used on a Tesla, Expect to lose about 50 to 75 Wh/mi. But if you are not doing long distance driving, you will not be disappointed in these tires. They are a little more noisy on some road surfaces.

  5. I bought 235/45/r18 fronts & 265/45/r18 rears for my cayman as the price was cheap compared to other N-Spec options. These replaced the OEM Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT which ran 25k miles (The rears are gone first understandably). S04’s have really great grip and steering feel. I am now almost able to take back roads at 50% more speed. However, the tire wear, especially on the rears are atrocious. The rears were down to flat at just 5k miles! ! I had to order and replace a second set for the rears. Now at 9k miles, the fronts are down to 5/10ths. The second set of rears are again at 4/10ths! I can see that the 981 Cayman’s weight distribution is tough on the rears, but the wear rate is unbelievable (5x) compared to OEM tires. As 981 18′ wheels have limited tire options, I would recommend sticking to the OEM options if you just want regular tires that last long. You are better off with 200tw tires if you want the ultimate grip (RE71Rs or Advan A052). This leaves S-04s in no mans land with terrible wear and costing $$$. Also, I think I’ll get 19′ OZ wheels which should atleast give me Michelin PS4S & Continental ECS options

  6. This has been a great tire. I have total confidence in any driving condition and after 20k the tread looks like it can go another 20k. So much better than the OEM tire. I will continue to purchase this tire as long as it is available.
