The Winterforce 2 is Firestone’s Studdable Winter/Snow tire designed for the owners of coupes, sedans and minivans looking for traditional wintertime traction on dry, wet and snow-covered roads.

Tread CalloutsFirestone Winterforce 2 radials feature a special cold-weather compound molded into a directional tread pattern. Deep circumferential grooves, wide lateral notches and open shoulder slots help channel slush and standing water away from the contact patch to aid hydroplaning resistance, and the high sipe density tread pattern provides thousands of biting edges for grip in snow and on ice. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts on top of a polyester casing to combine strength with ride quality.

Winterforce 2 radials meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

  1. The studded version of this tire recently went on my 2001 Sonoma for winter. My rating is in comparison to other winter tires, not to all season or summer tires. I prefer a studded snow tire to any other for winter as a guard against black ice, which happens all too frequently in high mountain valleys. My 2013 E class M-B has Michelin X-Ice, and although it’s a fine snow tire, it’s nowhere close to a studded tire. The Winterforce 2 has not demonstrated any odd high-speed vibration, has not shown any signs of pulling, and handles as well as the General Altimax Artics on my son’s 2003 M-B E-Class.Most important, the studded Winterforce 2 allows for worry-free winter driving

  2. I have used winterforce tires for the past 10 years and recently purchased the Winterforce 2’s for the first time and they are nothing like the originals. There’s a great deal of floating and wandering in dry conditions. Very little ice traction and shallow and deep snow traction is mediocre. Firestone ruined a great snow tire just to save a little road noise. Probably will not get another set.

  3. I put a set of four tires on my 1977 dodge. It has been an absoulutely amazing tire in the snow. My only complaint about this tire is the rattle when you reach speeds above 85 plus. Then again, its probably not designed for that. This tire does what its supposed to do. Great traction with all types of snow.

  4. Wow what a Great snow tire,I would recommend these to anyone who doesn’t want to get stuck ,great stability in the deep stuff at 20k there still going strong and have great wear,! Now what I didn’t like when they are new they have so much tread in the dry around corners they felt squirmy it took a bit to get used to it once we wore off the new they felt better. Now Im used to Z rated tires so don’t expect them to feel like one. Off Road they would be —–in on an SCCA off road Rallys!

  5. These tires “track” when going down the road. All of a sudden the car will be pulled to one direction or the other for no reason, pretty consistently on dry pavement. They are a decent cheap snow tire, just not very comfortable.

  6. Worst snow tire I have ever used and I will never recommend them. Absolute garbage in the dry and if you opt for studs (which I did unfortunately) your ears WILL bleed if you exceed 45 MPH unless there is at least an inch or 2 of snow on the road. On just the drive home from getting them mounted I was seriously considering buying a whole new set of studless winter tires and burning these in a fire. The only place they were of any value was in deep, hard packed snow. I strongly recommend pretty much any other winter tire currently on the market.
