The Road Venture AT51 is Kumho’s On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed for the drivers of jeeps, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles that want off-road performance from a tire also tuned for the road. Designed to combine command of rugged terrain with an all-season ride, the Road Venture AT51 delivers year-round traction in all terrains and all seasons, even in snow.

Road Venture AT51 tires feature a cut-resistant dual silica tread compound optimized for strength and heat dispersal to enhance all-weather grip and durability. This compound is molded into a wide tread featuring shoulders designed to expel stones and dual-pitch, zigzag center blocks to create a stable contact area to promote dry handling and wet braking. Full-depth circumferential grooves are stepped to boost off-road grip on loose surfaces while tread blocks are tapered to promote self-cleaning action for better traction in mud and snow.

Kumho’s ESCOT Casing Technology optimizes sidewall cord tension distribution to promote steering response and treadlife. The tire’s internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to enhance off-road durability and highway stability. Use of jointless bead bundles and a two-ply polyester cord body helps isolate bumps and vibration for a smoother, quieter ride.

Note: Kumho Road Venture AT51 tires meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

  1. At about 35k miles I have 5-6/32″ of tread left. I will get one last winter out of these and then look to change before the next season. Overall cannot complain. Have gone through 10″ of unplowed snow in 4Hi with open diffs and I felt I had pretty good traction. They feel well planted at freeway speeds in torrential rains when newer. With more wear you can feel some slip, but the tires are predictable. I never rotated these and though the fronts have worn before the rears, the differential is approx 2/32″.My tires in my other truck have worn and I have bought a new set of these Kuhmos for my pickup. Hoping for similar performance outcome on mileage.

  2. It did great off road, and much better than stock tire during rain showers, however, winter performance is truly disappointing. I did better than most cars simply because I was driving a 4×4 Grand Cherokee, however, compared to a Wrangler Sahara that I drove at the same time with their original tires, these tires were a total disappointment. Easy to slip, snow accumulating in the threads … not buying them again. On top of that, after 10k or so miles, rear tires are now 9/32 and front 11/32 … original thread is 13/32 (for reference).

  3. I purchased these tires 3 years ago when they we first released and with an $80 gift card as incentive. Since then these tires have gone up in price considerably. When new the tires were not too noisy but at 50,000 miles these tires are very noisy. Passengers have asked if my wheel bearings are shot. The tires wear well. I never had an issue with balancing. I do run them higher pressure vs. recommended as I find this reduces edge feathering and cupping of the tread. Great traction in the rain and in the limited ice and snow I have driven in. I will not purchase these again due to the noise and price increase with other tires available in this price range.

  4. Performance is fantastic on all types of roads but at the cost of really fast wear. It’s been just over a year and 20,000 miles with mostly highway speeds exceeding 70mph and on 6 different types of surfaces in all 4 seasons with less than 5% of miles during tow or load. At their price, I would have hoped for better durability but I guess you can’t have it all in a tire under $200. Rotation is critical with these tires at 10,000 miles, otherwise you’ll be shopping for a new set quickly.

  5. For the price i paid i knew they wouldn’t last long but i only put 10k on them and they are already at 2/32 I’m at a loss for words contacted tire rack about the problem and they responded with this impossible listed procedure for the warrant so extremely unhappy with these tires and the warrant that just spits in your face I’m at 15k now there as bald as beach ball SAVE YOUR MONEY buy a better name brand tire

  6. 1 winter, 1 offroad trip to AOAA, and 7k miles of mixed city and highway, they have not disappointed. In light snow, rain and rock gardens, the tires have been predictable and offered acceptable traction. On the highway they’ve impressed during two emergency highway maneuvers and abrupt stops.
