The Michelin Defender Standard Touring All-Season tire has arrived to serve the drivers of family cars, minivans and small crossover vehicles looking for tires that will provide a confident driving experience that helps protect those they care about most. In addition to utilizing eco-focused manufacturing methods and enhancing vehicle fuel economy through low rolling resistance, as designated by Michelin’s Green X* branding, Defender tires are designed to deliver extra long wear, comfortable driving characteristics and all-season traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even in light snow.
Featuring a silica-based all-season tread compound molded into a mildly asymmetric tread design, Defender tires provide traction throughout a wide range of ambient temperatures and driving conditions. The interlocking action of Michelin IntelliSipe Technology promotes exceptional tread block rigidity that reduces rolling resistance and wear rate so drivers can save fuel without sacrificing longevity. IntelliSipe Technology also allows Michelin to increase the number of sipes in the Defender’s tread design to provide additional biting edges that enhance all-season traction in rain and light snow. Four circumferential and hundreds of lateral grooves help evacuate water from under the tire’s footprint to enhance hydroplaning resistance and wet traction.
Michelin MaxTouch Construction optimizes the stresses experienced when the tire footprint comes in contact with the road to promote predictable handling, even wear and long tread life. Its internal structure combines twin steel belts with a polyester cord body.

Excellent tire for my pick-up. Ride myself of the Goodyear Wrangler and no more shake . I can now turn a corner. Stop and accelerate in the wet. Amazing tire.
Excellent tires. Better than the AS and much better the the Perelli P7 Centurado by far. Wish mileage we’re a bit better. But the driving experience has been great…at least with my Camry SE.
Michellins used to be great tires, but not anymore. These tires only lasted me 2 years and about 25K miles. Not worth the money.
Installed Michelin Defender (90K mile) (98T, M+S) tires on my 2010 Subaru Forester in Nov 2013. Aftr 5 years & 93K miles later I still have about 2K miles left on them. I drive very easy 90% of the time. The tires were rotated every 7K-10K. Very happy with them. But am disappointed that I can’t find the 90K tires anymore, only 80K are now available.
Love this tire! I felt so safe and secure riding with this tire. The grip is so good and was perfect for wet rainy conditions in Seattle, WA. Highly reccomend!
These tires started out like most new sets, feel great, smooth ride, low road noise. Until you get about 15K miles under them. Tire is rated at 70K, I rotated every 5K religiously and they currently have 41K and are at 4/32! The road noise from these tires is unbelievably load. They make a constant whining noise that everyone in the vehicle feels and hears. I unfortunately put a set of these on my 2003 Ford Expedition about 2 weeks apart. They make the exact same whining noise and I cannot wait until they wear out so I can replace. Just because a tire costs $50 more, does not mean they are better. If you want a tire that is quite, steer clear of the Defender! The performance is good, but the noise level is unacceptable.
