The AVID ENVigor ZPS (Zero Pressure System) is Yokohama’s High Performance All-Season run-flat radial developed to meet the year-round driving needs of sports car, coupe and sedan drivers. With the ability to provide temporary extended mobility for a distance of up to 50 miles at 50 mph in the event a puncture allows complete air pressure loss, AVID ENVigor ZPS tires are designed to combine performance, comfort and treadlife along with year-round traction, even on light snow-covered roads.

The AVID ENVigor ZPS radial’s all-season silica tread compound is molded into an optimized contact patch featuring a five-rib directional pattern that blends performance with all-season traction. Linked shoulder blocks and a continuous tapered center rib increase tread rigidity to improve straight-line tracking and handling. Independent intermediate blocks, angled grooves and adaptive 3D sipes enhance wet traction, help resist hydroplaning and promote traction in light snow.

The AVID ENVigor ZPS radial’s internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by jointless nylon belt covers and belt edge strips that are spirally wound to provide long-term integrity under demanding conditions while they reduce tire weight and promote more uniform ride quality. Two rayon cord body plies help provide predictable handling while Yokohama’s ZPS sidewall reinforcement can temporarily support the vehicle’s weight even after a puncture allows a complete loss of air pressure.

NOTE: Yokohama’s ZPS tires are only recommended for vehicles originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

  1. This is the first set of tires that I’ve purchased for my 2011 Mini Cooper S to replace the original Bridgestones. I was a bit concerned I would suffer from buyer’s remorse when I found a number of very negative reviews of these Yokohamas on another website just after the purchase. My concerns were soon gone after I started to drive. They a much quieter and every bump in the road no longer feels like I am hitting a giant pothole. There was a bit of a trade off with these tires. They are not nearly as quick or responsive so the steering feels a bit squishy. I am willing to give that up for the smoother ride. My biggest complaint was my local installer (Firestone) took 3.5 hours to complete mounting them and my appointment paperwork indicated they would have me in and out within an hour.

  2. My Avid Envigor ZPS tires came new with a recently purchased 2008 BMW E91 328xi wagon. My wife has a 2009 E91 coupe so I’m quite familiar with 3-series ride and handling, as well as run-flat tires. I’m not impressed with these tires at all when it comes to wet or snowy surfaces. Traction is AWFUL on snow, and just OK on wet surfaces – and keep in mind these tires are new, so tread depth is as good as it will ever be. I bought some winter rims and snow tires because I won’t go through another winter with these Yokos on the car. They have a smooth ride and are quiet on good pavement, so highway travel is quite pleasing, but hitting any kind of seam or joint in the pavement transfers a lot of impact inside the passenger compartment. It happens that our neighborhood has a couple of traffic bumps, and the Yokos hit them MUCH harder than the Continental ContiProContact tires on my wife’s 09 328ix. All in all, I’m glad I got new tires with the car but I won’t replace them with the same brand. Their snow traction is terrible, they are extremely harsh on bumps, and although they’re quiet and smooth on good highway surfaces, their drawbacks overshadow that. My wife’s 328 has been decent in snow and better over bumps with the Continental run-flats that we’ve driven for three years.

  3. I wrote a review for these tires a year ago but it looks like it never made it. Anyway, I loved these tires. I put 40K on them and still had about 3/10 tread left. I replaced them because they began to dry rot, I understand the common cause of dry rot is the sun and I am not going to complain about them because of the dry rot.Overall they are awesome tires. Light snow traction with barely any tread left was phenomenal, much better than my new set of General G Max UHPA. They handle standing water much better than my Generals also and refused to hydro plane. Overall driving performance is really good with these tires.I went with the G max because they have a very similar tread patter and cost less. I felt compelled to re-write my review for the Yokos because I feel they are a great product and I would consider buying them for my next set.I am fairly please with the new G max tires and just got a set for my wife (she doesn’t beat on her car like I do and they were more cost effective).Yokohama made a great tire and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an all season. I am considering a summer tire or my next set on my car mainly because I rarely drive in the snow and the whole point of these types of tires is for increased snow traction. As the Yokos wore down they were quite noisy but I assume that is to be expected of any tire with low tread. I cant complain because I got 40k out of them and probably could have stretched it to 50 if I wasn’t concerned about the dry rot. My stockers barely got 30k and were junk!

  4. Much smoother and softer ride than the OEM run flats. Have been very pleased with the tread wear and grip, even on wet pavement. We haven’t had much snow here since I put these on the MINI in February 2016, so, I can’t speak to the snow and ice traction.

  5. These were to replace my OEM runflat tires. They ride significantly better than the original runflats and still have great wet/dry performance. We regularly participate in local MINI club driving events and these perform well when the crowd starts to get spirited. Road noise also seems to be less than the OEMs. Obviously – we’ve had no flats so can’t speak about how useful that is. I duo know it gives us a little extra peace of mind knowing we’ve got 50 miles to get them fixed in our spareness car.

  6. This was my worst decision about, the car feel very unstable at high speeds, and cornering is even worse, traction controller is always saving me with those tires, BMW need a lower trade-wear number to run like a champ, keep it below 300, more than that you will be involved in accident cause this tires.

  7. Post Trip Report. This is a photo of my wife’s 2015 Mini Cooper Right Front Tire I took in Santa Fe at the car wash. When I IM’d it to her she reported we’d had it since before we left the house in Pensacola FL (I know I know – really?). These were New 205/45RF-17 YOKOHAMA AVID ENVIGOR ZPS RUN FLAT’s I’d bought in November and like new. After considering they’d gone almost 1500 miles, we left it in and crossed our fingers for the next 1500 miles. Many thanks to all those who informed us via wave downs, notes, and comments in lineups for pointing it out to us! 🙂 I’m happy to report, we made it all the way home without incident. I took it to our installer after the trip and he said is was unrepairable – yikes, new tire time. This was a Tire Rack purchase and they had a replacement to our installer in two days. I filed a claim for road hazard damage as TR provides complimentary coverage for 2 years. A week later I had a check for the full replacement cost minus installation. Kudo’s Yokahama, Tire Rack and my local installer. I’ll be a repeat customer!

  8. Living in New York City I feel a big difference, especially on the potholes it takes a lot of load of my shocks and struts. I’ve driven it in the rain and it has good traction so far but I would consider that I just put them on recently so it should have good traction. I’m waiting to drive it in the snow and see how it handle during that time. I can say so far I am very satisfied with the tires.

  9. Bought as an upgrade to the stock Michelin tires which are poor performers. These new tires work superb and cost is reasonable. Haven’t tried it in the snow but works well in the rain unlike the stock Michelins.
