Ultra Grip Ice WRT tires use Goodyear’s Winter Grip compound molded into a directional tread design with sweeping grooves that help channel water and slush away from under the tire’s footprint to enhance traction and handling in cold, wet and wintry conditions. One ugly winter with deep snow storms 12 to 18 inches and freezing rain at begining or end. This tire got me to work even when some of the roads and the parking lot weren’t yet plowed. There was even one episode of navigating my driveway (downhill and curved) on frozen rain you could skate on! (My neighbor has to park at the bottom of his driveway in all storms) Verdict: This tire will do anything in snow, on untreated skateing ice it is a little less sure but comes thru very well. If your buying a dedicated snow tire buy it!! (I would like it studded, not availabe,but that is because of my driveway and freezing rain). (If you want to not have dedicated snow tires consider the Goodyear WeatherReady which is almost as good and we run that on our second car).Down side: it drops your MPG buy 2MPG but whats a little more for gas when your not going to end up in a ditch! Buy It!!

Probably not the best snow tires in the world, but for the money and our driving style we have no complaints. They are definitely better than any all season tire for the snow and ice.
I’ve driven these tires around 5,000 miles a year for 3 years in a Subaru Forester. We live in Vermont and do a lot of driving on steep ice and snow-covered roads 5 months of the year. Overall, I’m pretty disappointed in these tires and not buy them again especially given the premium price. Even with the Subaru AWD I’ve found that the rear-end of the car tends to slide all over the road in slush and minimal snow even at very slow speeds. After 15,000 miles the tires still have a lot of tread on them but the tires feel far less safe than when they were new and need to be replaced already. I’m going to try a different brand next winter
these are my first set of snow tires after 15 years of driving in the northeast. despite enjoying driving in the snow my prius is virtually useless without snow tires, like i would do better in a golf cart. i also chose them because of the price and rebate. i eat tires because i can’t afford to get my car aligned on a weekly basis. i didn’t want to invest a lot of money into something i know i won’t get a lot of wear out of. well, they’ve proven to be the best investment i’ve ever made. with the tires my prius is better than my girlfriend’s AWD rav with all season tires. i have zero issues with snow, slush, and ice. the only issue i’ve had is with mud but that’s to be expected. they’re a little loud on dry pavement and they feel a little “sticky” but again, i expected it and it doesn’t make it difficult or uncomfortable to drive. i absolutely recommend these to anyone who needs snow tires but doesn’t want to put out $450-$500 on a set.
This is an update to my first review. I have driven across country on these tires and now have about 5,000 miles. The noise level has gone down some. Snow traction is great compared to even the best all season tires and that is even going against the General RT43 which in my opinion is the best all season for the money right now. I have RT43’s on 2 cars. Now I will say I have never owned snow/winter tires before so I cannot compare these to others in the category. These tires allow my small car to plow thru some really deep snow. I have pushed thru 6-8inches with no problem at all. Ice traction still not really sure. I did encounter freezing drizzle one night and with the exception of sliding slightly on a bridge going 60mph I cannot really rate. Going across that bridge was when I realized the roads where getting glazed I slowed down and made it the remaining 30miles home without issues. They seemed to be grabbing good but I did not want to push them that night. I am not a Goodyear fan but these tires have changed my opinion of Goodyear. I have never been happy with the Goodyears I have gotten as OEMs on new cars and I stayed away from them as a aftermarket buy. But I chose these for the good reviews and great price point with rebates. My mind set when buying was anything was better than the ones my small car came with from the used car dealer. I took a chance on these and have been happy. Dry traction is very good. Wet traction is good but don’t push them as snow tires aren’t great at normal temps in the rain. In turns, they can handle being pushed hard but you do get a lot of body roll as they are a softer tire. If your one to stay away from Goodyear give these a chance. I know I would never buy Goodyear Eagles or Wranglers as they have been a disappointment as OEMs on new cars but these are great for the price to performance ratio. Thanks Goodyear for finally making a Goodyear tire I don’t regret owning.
Driving in snow with the original tires that came on my 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE was absolutely scary. Got these tires put on and no more worries about driving in the snow, they seem to have excellent handling of all snow / ice conditions. Would recommend them.
